Here’s how you can take action and make a real difference in Brussels.

Report illegal dumping

  1. Email the authorities. You can find contacts via your municipality’s website or check them at the bottom of this page:
    • Public cleanliness service
    • Mayor
    • Alderman/Alderwoman for cleanliness
    • You can find contacts in the below contact lists
  2. Call your municipality — the numbers are also available in the tables below.
  3. Submit a report via Fix My Street app (iPhone / Android).
Found something that can identify the offender?

If you found something that can identify the offender (name, address, etc.), call your municipality (see contact list below) and request a sanctioning agent.

Know who’s responsible

Some streets in Brussels are cleaned by the Agence Bruxelles Propreté, others by your municipality. Check who is in charge!

Spread awareness on social media

  • Post on your own channels
  • Or send us your pictures via Instagram: @brussel_poubelle

Don’t forget to include the exact location (street + postcode).

Appreciate the heroes on the ground

  • Thank cleaning teams when you see them.
  • See someone littering? A polite, non-confrontational word can go a long way.
  • Dangerous behavior (throwing trash from windows, people under influence, etc.)? Call the police.

Join the clean city movement!

  • Sign up as a local ambassador via Wake Up Clean Up
  • Organize or join a cleanup action
  • Talk with neighbors about cleanliness and public hygiene
