- Make cleanliness a top priority
Treat public cleanliness as a core political and budget goal. Deliver visible, measurable improvements across all municipalities - Simplify responsibilities
End the regional/municipal split for street cleaning. Give municipalities full responsibility within their borders. Coordinate region-wide policy through a revitalised Clean.Brussels platform. - Modernise waste management
Replace street bags with underground or above-ground containers. Use smart sensors and cameras to monitor and deter misuse. Expand Recyparks and make them accessible to all residents. Introduce a deposit system for cans and bottles. - Educate and engage citizens
Provide clear, multilingual info on rules and penalties to all residents. Promote cleanliness in schools and integration programmes. Support neighbourhood committees and regular clean-up actions. - Enforce the Rules
Immediate fines for littering and illegal dumping. Mandatory community service for offenders. More staff and smart cameras to increase detection and deterrence. Tighten controls on businesses and withdraw permits for repeating violators. - Manage efficiently
Set clear KPIs and publish results by neighbourhood. Reform Bruxelles Propreté (end “fini fini” rule, audit performance). Reinvest fines directly into cleanliness initiatives.
