Report issues
Reporting problems is one of the most effective ways to trigger action from public authorities.
How to report
- Email or call the authorities. You can find the contact details for your municipality below:
- Public cleanliness service
- Mayor
- Alderman/Alderwoman for cleanliness
- Submit a report via Fix My Street app (iPhone / Android).
What to report?
- Illegal dumping, overflowing bins, missed collections, dirty public space.
- If you found something that can identify the offender (name, address, etc.), request a sanctioning agent.
Know whom to contact
- Your municipality for most local streets; Net Brussel Bruxelles Propreté for the regional streets.
- If you are unsure, your municipality is usually the right first contact. You can also check for the list of regional roads on https://gis.urban.brussels/brugis/#/ (click on Layers –> “Brussels Mobility” –> “Traffic and Network”, then select “Regional roads” which will then highlight as red).
- Find who to contact for each municipality.
Take initiative
You don’t have to wait for authorities. Small local actions can make a real difference.
- Organize clean-ups (as individual or in group)
- Sign up as a local ambassador via Wake Up Clean Up
- Organize or join a cleanup action
- Adopt a space (street, tree pit, small area)
- Engage locally
- Talk with neighbors about cleanliness and public hygiene
- See someone littering? A polite, non-confrontational word can go a long way
- Talk to your municipality, propose initiatives
- Appreciate the heroes on the ground: Thank cleaning teams when you see them.
Spread the word
Changing behaviour requires awareness and collective effort.
- Talk to people: Neighbours, local community
- Social media
- Post on your own channels
- Send us your pictures via Instagram: @brussel_poubelle Don’t forget to include the location (street + postcode).
- Lead by example
